កម្មវិធីយុវច្នៃកម្ពុជា-Youth Innovate Cambodia is a 3-month challenge program that aims to transform innovative ideas from Cambodia individuals into real activities and solutions.

Innovations and great ideas can come from anyone, especially young people who see the problems in their communities but often do not have resources to test their potential solutions. Many young people come to DI looking for small funds to kick-start their projects, but don’t have a formal affiliation to use to apply for funds. We created this fund to help address that problem.

Through the កម្មវិធីយុវច្នៃកម្ពុជា-Youth Innovate Cambodia, young people will have the opportunity and resources to transform ideas to develop new ICT-enabled projects that address a social issue for Cambodians. The selected applicants will be awarded up to $3,500 and receive DI training and coaching to test their innovative concepts/ideas using ICTs.

Examples of illustrative activities may include:

  • Launch a social media awareness campaign
  • Host an online training/workshop
  • Develop a prototype
  • Develop a website/mobile app

ICT tools may include, but are not limited to, social media campaigns, blog, websites, software, hardware, wireless technologies, mobile app, digital games, Artificial Intelligence or Augmented Reality tools, and other digital technologies.

DI will conduct an evaluation and invite semi-finalists to the DI office in Phnom Penh for an in-person presentation. In special circumstances, DI will be open to conducting an online video presentation. DI will select up to 10 finalists for a final award.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM?

To apply for this program, the Cambodian individual has to submit a concept note for the proposed project activity (concept note template can be downloaded here). The program concept note must demonstrate how the project:

  • Addresses a real problem in the community with the attached evidence/data
  • Is built based on a clear understanding of target audience and context in which activity will be implemented (applicants are highly encouraged to discuss lessons learned from other youth programs in the past, or talk about how they are building on a successful activity that began through another youth or entrepreneurship program)
  • Has a specific, and realistic activity plan
  • Is implementable within a three-month period

Note: The concept note can be in English or Khmer.
